Macworld's tip on iPod and Apple 'books Lithium batteries

Christopher Breen's Mac 911 Weblog at Macworld gives out tips on how to take care of the lithium batteries on your Apple portables and iPods.

  • Lithium-based batteries' optimum working temperature is between 10˚ to 30˚C. Too cold, it doesn't hold enough charge. Too hot, the battery gets damaged.
  • Don't leave your iPod and portables plugged all the time. Apple suggests that you charge and discharge the battery at least once a month.
  • Completely draining the battery then storing it is a no-no.
Last tip is not to worry too much about the battery. It will eventually run out. Use it as much as you can and plug them when you need to.
