According to MDN, John Shinal of Investors.com reported that in the past decade Apple's Steve Jobs boosted research spending while other tech companies slashed theirs. The boosted spending produced the iPod and this has changed the company and boosted its value four-fold in two years.

The study says scientists are delighted by the duality of Mac OS X: the grahical interface and Microsoft Office compatibility, and it being able to support Unix codes. One of the big challenges in having a Mac is using it in a "Microsoft-centric world."
