- An alternative
The article got me thinking about what it is I like about Apple and its products, the Mac and iPod. Currently I own a 12-inch 1GHz Powerbook and a 17-inch 1.83 GHz Core Duo iMac. The latter's pretty old and the former's old. The iMac's not old in the chronological sense; it's not even a year old yet. But old technology-wise. Enough of the griping.
I was thinking of selling both and get a brand spanking new machines but I couldn't justify the cost of getting a new macbook or a new iMac. Both the Powerbook and Core Duo iMac still works fine. Maybe I can sell both and get a 15-inch Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro. Forget it. I still need to shell out a lot of moolah for that 15-inch Macbook Pro.
I've owned several iPods already. My first iPod was a 1st generation green iPod mini. I used it extensively and had fun in the process but the battery conked out on me but it was a good thing that the retailer agree to send it back to Apple Singapore and I got a brand new unit. I then sold it. I also had a first generation 512MB iPod shuffle. Two actually. The second one I won in a contest. I sold both. I also had a fifth generation 30GB iPod, the so-called "video iPod." I've given up telling people that it's iPod with video. That was an exercise in futility. That's also been sold. I once got a pink 4GB nano but sold then when the red iPod came out.
I will say that using the Macs and all the iPods were fun and made me productive. That is not to say, however, that I haven't had issues with either of the two every now and then. I will post some thoughts about that soon.
